Latvia, like all member states of the European Union, must provide the European Commission with information on compliance with the requirements of "clean" road transport, that is, statistics on how many cars were purchased until August 1 of this year, applying the requirements of "clean" road transport and whether Latvia complies with Directive 2019 /1161 set targets.
On August 2, 2021, Directive (EU) 2019/1161 of the European Parliament and of the Council entered into force (June 20, 2019), amending Directive 2009/33/EC on the promotion of the use of "clean" and energy-efficient means of road transport, the requirements of which adopted by Article 54 of the Law on Public Procurement and Article 21 of the Law on Procurement of Public Service Providers.
